What is The Legal Benefit Trust Fund and how does it work?
Plan Members who are employed by contributing Employers and on whose behalf contributions to the Group Legal Benefit Trust Fund have been received, and who are currently eligible for benefit coverage under the Teamsters Local Union 230 Members’ Benefit Fund, shall be entitled to benefit coverage in the Group Legal Benefit Trust Fund. Members and their eligible dependents shall continue to be eligible for legal benefits as long as they remain eligible for benefits in the Teamsters Local Union 230 Members’ Benefit Fund. The Group Legal Benefit coverage is not provided for Plan Members whose Life and Health Benefits are extended by Fund Assistance, or who elect to continue benefit coverage by paying direct.
Coverage Summary
The Plan covers expenses of legal services rendered by Registered Paralegals or Lawyers of any Law Firm up to specified limits, and a calendar year maximum of 30 hours of legal service per Insured Participant. The schedule of fees is set-out below is the maximum amount payable by the Plan for the services described. All additional charges are the responsibility of the Plan Member.
